The McMaster Community and Rural Education (Mac-CARE) Program is the gateway to clinical rotations in family and specialty medicine programs, in regions outside of Hamilton.
Mac-CARE offers:
- Access to a rich diversity of high-quality community teaching sites in smaller cities, towns and rural areas – all within a two-hour drive of downtown Hamilton
- Full-service placement support – tell us what you’re looking for and we’ll help you find suitable placement opportunities within our integrated Regional and Clinical Education Campus network. We’ll make sure the site is ready for your arrival and we may be able to help with local accommodation.
- A McMaster experience – you’ll be placed with preceptors at affiliated community sites who work with McMaster curriculum, are familiar with McMaster family medicine and specialty program objectives, and promote McMaster teaching approaches (e.g. Problem-based learning). At larger sites, you’ll be immersed in learning environments with McMaster medical students and residents, as well as students in other McMaster health sciences programs.
